Phone firm Motorola cuts targets

Mobile phone company Motorola surprised markets by saying it would post a loss in the first three months of this year and that lowered its revenue targets.

It blamed poor handset sales and a tough pricing environment, adding that earnings for the whole of 2007 would be much lower than first forecast.

The firm, which has been under pressure for a number of quarters, said its chief financial officer was leaving.

Motorola added it would also speed up a share buy-back plan to bolster prices.

"They're losing a ton of money in phones," said Edward Snyder, an analyst at Charter Equity Research.

"They need to release a set of new phones designed for lower prices, they need to design lower priced phones that are designed to be profitable at a much lower price. And that's going to take about a year and half," he said.

Your probably right.

They milked that V3 for all it was worth but I think they've come a long way since then. I like their new products.

new products golden face?

what new products?

i've only seen V3xx which correct me if im wrong is still a god dam RAZR?

what else have then done? oh.. sorry they made the Q.. that was a flop and a half! why? cuz its shockingly bad device...

they need to bring features up to date, i know moto dont do this but to get anywhere these days they need to packing some heavy weight features, other than the MPx (which wasnt readily available) what other moto phone has had wifi on it? and there still only shipping 2mp cams? the budget K550i ships with a 2mp AF cam... higher spec phones, N73 3mp, N95, 5mp, K800, 3.2mp moto really need to invest some money in specs.. its not true that people just want design anymore, while im totally aware that most people will buy a phone that has the best features even though they wont use it, jsut by doing this it pushes moto out the way.....

sort it moto!

you've got the design team jsut crack on with features.. (oh but degisners, new designers, some new designs please... rizr, razr and slvr are boring now)

motorola does have some nice phones in usa

but the eu market ... plz motorola give us something new.
make a usefull menu, not too complex like it's now
the z3 made a small step in right direction but still, it's menu's are rubbish.
they had only one succes rizr (crap imho) and exploided it as much as they could pink/d&g/ adding better camera etc.

common guys be creative make something new, fire your R&D staff. And hire some new / fresh indian people who work for 5euro a day.
