The seller on E-bay has no previous record, and the phone is not possible to unlock -guess I'll pass from bidding.

I have read several articles about the SPV in norwegian medias and one of the main issues, is that it's not gonna be available in Norway, because Orange doesn't have a GSM-net here. The phone uses the Microsoft-Stinger platform, but the phone and OS is specially made for Orange.

This article(in norwegian) says that the reason that the SPV can't be unlocked for use in norwegian networks, is that the phone is hardware-locked -not SIM-locked as most other phones.

this makes perfect sense, despite the fact that i can't read the article... but i could see that there was a price posted in norwegian kornas, so i assume they do sell it there, right??? and more over, i realize it can't be unlocked completely since there are some functions on that phone that have orange specidic applications like orange back up and stuff like that, so i know i won't be able to use those, but what about main functionality: calling? can that phone be unlocked to make phone calls and wap around or something??? otherwise with it being tri-band it just does not make sense, there is no orange in north america... i mean is there any way to confirm that, i really want the phone but i won't pay 500 bucks for something useless... please advise. thanx.

The phone will not be sold in the norwegian market. The price was about a similar phone with Microsoft OS(not Orange SPV) that is soon to be released in Norway and Denmark.

About the phone being Tri-band. This means that an european Orange SPV user can bring his phone to USA and use the phone in the networks there through roaming. He uses his Orange SIM-card and borrows network-lines from the american operators. This is very common in europe. Whenever I go to another european country, I use my own SIM-card but change operator(actually the phone does this on it's own). The charges comes as extra-charge on my regular bill.

Actually I would like to be wrong about the hardware-lock because I would like to buy a SPV myself , but I have read this in at least 3 different mobile-magazines.

i see... all i can say is i know exactly what roaming is and here how it goes... i got 2 accounts cuz i live in 2 countries... i have russian mts and i use it back home and tmobile for us..where i spend most of the time... so for instance this summer i went to spain and i was using amena, voda and sometimes movistar... depending on the area... so, i know what roaming is exactly... but here is a trick question for ya... when i take my european (russian) sim to us, it does not roam, period.. now when i bring my tmo sim to russia it does not roam... so now i don't see anyway of orange being able to roam in the us.. now i think the phone is made triband not because its intended to be used exclusively on orange, but most likely because it is made by htc which made sendo z100 (now cancelled) and it uses the exact same platform, so in other words the brains of the phone are not orange specific, it is indeed generic intended for various market and various outter casings like compal, sendo, orange they are all practically the same phone... and only orange is on orange, sendo is gone, compal is butt ugly.. so spv is the only one appealing to me at this poitn, and while i completely agree with you about the possibility of hw lock being set on it (one of the ms tricks) but i still desperately hope its not, and now if i find out that its not hw locked i am confident that i will be able to crack it up... its ms after all.. anyway, lets research... any info on your part will be appreciated... thanx a lot anyway.
