in some circumstances, you can delete your ow thread

you can delete your own post wihin the first 30 minutes after posting by clicked edit on that post, tick te check box in the options area under where you write the post, and then click submit.

If yours is the only post inthe thread then, of course, the whole thread is deleted.

otherwise yes, you need to ask a moderator but if there is useful content in the thread it doesn't always get removed on request
