Hi all,
Now being the proud owner of an 8800 Special Edition i need some help usually the first thing i do on getting any phone is delete all the preinstalled ring tones wallpapers etc etc. Now i tried doing this from the phone but there is no delete option, i then tried doing through PC Suite by copying them into a newly made folder and got the message copy protected files can not be moved. How can i get rid of them or can't i? . The reason is i always use the same MP3 ring tone CTU 24 and Matrix ring loop for message alerts i really don't need all this junk on my phone even if it is special. Also on the Nokia website i have found some stereo bluetooth headsets that will work and give me stereo Music from the phone even without A2DP but without deleting this garbage will have very little space for more than a couple of play lists not full albums as i always encode at the best quality possible and even in aac this does not leave me enough space. Any suggestions welcomed or will i have to call the premium care line on Monday.

Hi Fatreg,
Many thanks for the reply, so its off to find a friendly Nokia service centre then otherwise i can't use this as a music player not enough memory to put enough tracks encoded the way i want them. What i don't understand is Nokia are offering Stereo bluetooth headsets for this phone which would be just for the radio then and makes no sense to me. Oh well suppose it will save money not buying one then still love the phone just wish it was an S60 with a memory card slot and it would be perfect.

Hi Fatreg,
Thanks for the contact info but will try the Nokia Centre first as i actually have quite a good relationship with them due my N93, and remember i do have a large Albino Dobermann that can be very persuasive. LOL.

Just wondering. How much memory does an 8800 have? One of my classmates tells me it's got like 1 GB but I don't believe him.

Hi all,
well for those that are interested these are still currently available @ the Nokia online shop @ £535 which is £310 more than i paid and here is the full spec and what has confused me is although it doesn't mention A2DP it does say Stereo bluetooth streaming and although it says 128mb flash memory i only have 43mb free which really isn't enough for a decent amount of Music encoded at the best quality aac. Hence my desire to get rid of all the special and not wanted stuff. Yes Fatreg i am a Club Nokia member and have been for ages but looking forward to seeing what the 8800 privilege service is like as now i have 2 top of the range devices i expect service.

Guys 1 question. . . . I have heard a lot about this 8800. . . . The specs aren't that cool though. . . . But what is it in this phone that makes it so special. . . .???? I know its expensive for sure. . . . Only if it did have the features of a 6233. . . . I would have gone for this. . . . . And isn't this a bit heavy. . . . I wouldn't have expected anything more than a 100g for this phone. . . .

@Zolo,
What makes it so special is the build quality it is both solid and tactile and oozes class. Whilst it is small in size the reason it is heavy is it is metal not plastic but really the only way you can really understand what it is all about IMO is to hold and use one then it all becomes clear IMO. Even the desktop charger is a thing of beauty and heavy plus every ones a sucker for a blue light which it emits from the base. Even though it's spec is not amazing by to days tech standards it does more than enough very well one trip to the Nokia support settings page and everything just works including E-Mail all settings just sent to the phone and ready to use. Even though the screen resolution on paper looks bad in real life it is excellent quality many people have them as second phones and some only use them for special occasions. As my other phone is a N93 which has cutting edge tech i use that for most data related things but when going out and not needing all the tech IMO you just can't beat an 8800.

Hi Zolo,
The 8850 was nice in its time but the 8800 is even better,
Fatreg just a little update after a nice chat with those great people at Club Nokia i have manged to remove all the stuff i didn't want on the phone now just have 3 wallpapers and 2 ring tones and one message alert tone so just the way i like.

Currently my Music has all been converted @ Ultra High 160kbps in aac so will have to try lowering it to this to Medium quality as i really want the Nokia BH- 500 stereo bluetooth headset that i can plug my Sony earphones into and then i will be truly happy. The only thing with deleting all the stuff on my phone is if i ever want it back so as to sell it. I will need to go to a Nokia Service Centre to get it re flashed but i can live with that.

Marc

Hi all,
Just a little update as my Nokia BH -500 Stereo headset has arrived due to a lack of space even having deleted everything i could i have had to encode Music @68kpbs but to my amazement this still sounds really good. Have manged to fit the new Eminem presents The RE-UP album all 23 tracks plus Ruby Ruby Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs and the sound quality with this set up with my Sony headphones plug in is really good much better than my M600 and DS-970 were by a long way and the tracks on that were encoded and a much higher rate. So i can fit over 20 tracks at a time on the 8800 just have to reconvert some Music and make some play lists to swap around but so far am very impressed and pleased with the results. There is a thread in the Accessories section about the BH-500 and just how small it is for those of you that are interested but here is a picture of them both anyway.

Marc

PS if you look carefully at the rubberised area surrounding the Silver keys you have all the ff/fr + and - volume controls.
