It should be, but nobody's bought one yet because of the $300-800 price tag. you could get 2 4Gb for way less.
that's what they were a few weeks ago. just did a search on Froogle and they can be found as low as $217:

Wish I would've known that a few weeks ago before I bought the 4gig. But some of them i maybe wouldn't trust. The cheapest from a place I would trust, ironically, is from SonyStyle online store a $300, Buy.com is the same and J&R Music & Comp. is $350

i might buy one, i heard rumours that the 8gb has a FAT32 file system, and the W810i only supports FAT16 file system, hope its not too true! The w810i is a cracking little phone! |

I think you can't address file sectors bigger than 4GB using FAT16.
Since 8GB>4GB it means that FAT32 is used.

people (including me) have used 4gb in W810 so I see no reason why it will not work with 8gb

FAT16 is (technically) limited to 4 GB. Windows 2000 and up proves this. Win98, etc, can only address 2 GB. I don't want to drown people in tech gibberish so I'll try to address this in the most layman way i could: Now, the question is whether W810 implements higher-end FAT16 (that which can handle 4GB) or FAT32 (32 GB tops). I don't have a W810 anymore so I haven't checked this, but the M2 I formatted in my K800 seems to be using FAT32 already

lol, yeah, ok, 4gb is possible with FAT16 by using 64kb clusters, but its fairly non standard and introduces incompatibilities in some software software that didn't expect or cannt handle this cluster sizes (i.e. earlier versions of windows)
its highy improbable that SE would use this in W810, especially as they did not in P910 as indicated in the P910 white paper which says the following and which further suggests that SE would not take the slightly non standard route
I still think its a very safe bet that W810 will accept 8gb and higher but I'll be happy to eat my words if proven wrong

The reason for the 2 GB or 4 GB file limit with W98 or W2K in FAT16 is that the former used signed integers (thereby losing 1 bit for the sign), whereas the latter used unsigned integers. Of course, the programs also had to use unsigned integers when accessing the HD interface.

I was just wonderin' if the 8 GB will CLICK on it's INITIAL release  having a price TAG that already can buy a NICE . . . K800 or a P990 at that (if the PRICE mentioned below is in - US$)
