To answer the original post, you could do worse than googling free gprs latvia. You can only connect via the SIM-card's network and some phones are locked to accept only one network's SIM-cards. Every operator has their own tariffs and contracts. Shop around. Since GPRS runs on the mobile phone network, you have to be within range.

By my gprs is activated, I understand that you've got the settings from the operator and put them into the phone. So, now you can connect and pay the operator's bill. Check the rates. I doubt it will be free or even cheap. Based on the first part of this answer, if you want to change operator or tariff, you may need to change your phone and / or SIM.
better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

hey... u cant make your apn or proxy.... these are configured by your Service Provider in their system....

So if u r using the SIM of a operator A, u can only use the APNs that the operator A has configured in their system....

usually each operator has their own unique set of APNs for each service they provide......And u cant use any other APN other than these...

@ jekabssk8: What's the matter with your Google? Mine still gives me about 169,000 hits for free gprs latvia. The first is this thread, and the second is Telecoms in Latvia: June 2005
Sporadic commentary on the telecoms and IT market in Latvia and the Baltic States. ... One of the best deals around may be Tele2's free GPRS service
. Further on is Ross Barkman's GPRS Info Page. Barkman's page has hundreds of settings, including Latvia's and Tele2's. Are you within range? Have you tried any settings? What exactly have you done?

@ aatuif786: Can you do anything with these pay-monthly settings for my provider O2 UK?

hate to poo poo yeh ideas of free gprs in the UK but it aint gonna happen!!!

All the networks have very specific settings for access to their GPRS... If u change any of the settings it wont magically give u free access!

And before ne1 says it NO they dont have special free settings for testing! All they do is add a command on the network for that individual number to get free grps which is then calculated just before the end of a month when the bill is created!!!

Take t-mobile for instance! Their users with web n walk get free internet yet customers without it dont! BUT! they all have the same internet settings on their phones! THIS IS BECAUSE ITS DONE AT A NETWORK LEVEL AND NOT A PHONE LEVEL!

This is impossible to change so forget bout it!
