hey everyone!!

my family is planning on spending our vacation in the states, for about a month. I have several questions to ask:

1. what fones work there? I am currently using a K700. . .could i use it there? could i use the fones that work here in the philippines? or do i need to borrow one from one from globe?

2. Would it be better to avail of the roaming services of Globe or would it better to get a prepaid sim card there??

3. and lastly, what is the best service provider in the states? We would probably visit the california area and LV.

Your K700i should work in the US as it's tri-band. Just make sure roaming's activated on your account before going if you decide to go down that route.

Just so you are aware, in the USA, standard tariffs charge for both sending and receiving of texts and mins, therefore i would check out how much more on top you would be paying by having international roaming.

your K700 will work here in the US.

it’s better to have the Roaming service activated so you can received and able to send text messaging, I believe Globe works on voice (not relay sure). I don’t know about Globe roaming charges but I have a Smart roaming, receiving text is free, about 18 Pesos for sending text back to the Philippines and no Voice.

Another option too is buy a prepaid (SIM card) service like Cingular or T-mobile. Cingular is not always guarantied to deliver your international text messaging but connection is great (that’s for my personal experience).

Prepaid T-Mobile is great on both voice & text messaging, rates for voice are $1.50 a minute to the Philippines plus air time and 42 cents a minute for local, and Text messaging is .10 cents per 160 characters (international), .25 cents / MMS, and .05 cents receiving text.

enjoy your vacation
