I have a sony 1gb ms pro duo (though i think it's fake). I was transferring files earlier from the PC to it using the USB cable when suddenly I can't view the files inside the memory stick. I unplugged the USB cable and my phone seem to not detect the ms too. Btw, I'm using an SE K750i.

Whenever I plug in my USB cable, the PC detects that there is an external memory, and when I double click it, there's a warning that it is not formatted.

Whenever I try to format the MS using the PC, and unplug the USB cable, the phone will be able to recognize the MS - for a few seconds after accessing it via File Manager. Meaning when I try opening the Memory Status, it will detect 1GB of external memory for a while, then it will be undetectable again. I have to repeat the process of formatting my MS via the PC. I also tried formatting the MS via my phone, there's a dialog box saying formatting complete, but when I access it, the phone doesn't recognize that there's an external memory plugged in.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Or experiencing the same problem?

Not much you could do about it.

If it was a genuine stick, you shouldn't experience the problems you're describing.

If you're lucky, maybe you could return it, otherwise you're stuck with a fake stick.

Did you get it from ebay?

@ziggy - Looks like we both BOUGHT a fake 1 GB memory stick dude . . . though my PROBLEM then was, I am having problems everytime I am taking some SHOTS with the camera, the shutter button is kinda hard to press or there are TIMES that I have to make DOUBLE-takes in order to have the desired images . . . captured Though everything is OK when I am viewing the images taken in the folder. I have it replaced since it's under WARRANTY . . . and everything went FINE after that.

Since you BOUGHT your unit, 2nd hand . . . you have no recourse here but to get another ONE (memorystick-BRAND NEW one if possible), this TIME make sure it's the GENUINE that you will be gettin' OK? Good Luck ! [addsig]

Sorry to hear that guys. The only silver lining I could offer is that 1gb MSDP's are now pretty inexpensive as most could be had for less than $40USD (maybe cheaper with sales or mail-in rebates and such).

Not to sure about that. My friend MS is bought from Sony shop and is dead within a week. The thing is ALL memory can fail and some without warning at all. Just replace it if you can.

what file format do you guys see when you click on the memory stick via Explorer of your PC? I can still format my MS via my PC but maybe FAT isn't compatible with the phone. Do you guys know what software I can use to format it via PC?
