Gadget kings Brando has released the new NOKIR E828, far away from the fanfare that is 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. This devilish wordplay on the brand name might just reap dividends as most people make their purchase based on familiarity and cost.

In a nutshell, the E828 does boast some pretty good specs on paper. How does a 2.6" touchscreen display with a 2 megapixel camera and video recording capability sound to you? In addition, you get full MP3 and MPEG 4 playback, voice recording, and Java games support. The NOKIR E828 retails for $200 and is good for 900/1800MHz GSM networks only.

Ain't this the same cheap-ass N73 knock-off featured some time back from China? Good luck to anyone buying this copy.

i am just wondering, that nokia was so lazy to get a new form and design for a touchscreen fone, that n73 style gets boring...

Bobafett, it's not a Nokia it's a Nokir . It shares a striking resemblance to the Nokia N73 to profit from it's popularity.
The only thing Nokia has to do with this phone is merely legal: claims on design-theft...

Nokia is now going after extremely small shops in Hong Kong that carry the Nokir E828 after realizing that copyright-protection laws in China have more holes than a sponge. Strongarm tactics applied requires shops carrying the Nokir E828 to return all available units on a voluntary basis in addition to paying a $3,870 fine. I suppose the suits at Nokia could not go after the real culprits and hence had to take some action to satiate shareholders, but the legality of such a move is questionable from a moral perspective.

Hi all,

Talk about blatant infringement of copyright this is just ridiculous and deserves all the legal action possible IMO.
