You can install a Palm program call FunnyPhone (http://www.funnysoft.org/) to transfer (via infrared) ringtones and pictures to your phone. There is also a tool from the same website to convert your pictures on your PC into a Palm readable file to install onto your Palm.
Unfortunately, Palm does not recognise JPEG or GIF formats (I don't know about the new O/S 5) as native formats (which is why you need to convert then to Palm readable format on your PC) and this is why beaming JPEG and GIF from your phone won't do much to your Palm as it won't recognise it. You will need a Palm application written specifically to accept GIF and JPEG (which FunnyPhone doesn't do, only send files not receive them).
