Price of Blu-Ray player slashed, probably with the near release of the PS3

ill be getting my ps3 on release date, mainly for the blueray player!as i dont fancy playing 500 odd quid for a stand alone player when i can get a ps3 for 350
will the blue ray player in the ps3 be any worse quality wise than a stand alone player?

As far as I am aware the PS3 is the first Blu-Ray piece of hardware that uses HDMI 1.3

without seeing it ,its hard to say but if its anything like the dvd player on most consoles then yes it will be a lot worse.
passable on a small screen but i ll wager it ll show its flaws on a decent size hd screen. |

^ I wouldn't be so sure, the PS3 was designed specifically for use with HDTV's (obviously works without) and since the PS3 is so much more than just a gaming machine and is described as an entertainment device I think it'll be great at playing films and such.
