Hi, I have an unlocked P990i with a Cingular 3g / UMTS SIM card in it. The UMTS does not work on the Cingular network in the US because it does not recognize the phone. Cingular could never figure this out. Was curious if anyone has got this to work. Also curious if I will be able to use my phone in Japan in its current status?

Ok... if anyone cares. I'm in Japan and my P990i works just fine. Just to explain again. I have an unlocked P990i with a Cingular 3g capable SIM card. Does not work on 3G in US but works fine on 3G in Japan. Works great actually. Now I just need to get Cingular to figure a way to get the 3G to work in the US

What network you use in Japan? NTT DoCoMo or SoftBank Mobile (J-Phone)? Or both?

I see DoCoMo mostly. Every once in a while it switches to Vodafone. I've been to Kawagoe, Tokyo, and Shizuoka and no problems with connection.
