you can't have a very open ear then mr, the beatles paved the way for so much of the music of today.
without them you may still be listening to mario lanza.

Actually its not that at all, they may have laid the foundation for a lot of the music we have today but the stuff they did never really appealed to me.
I've nothing against them, they were brilliant in there time, and if i was around in that era maybe i would have been a fan but im from a much later generation and the Beatles is not something i would go out of my way to listen to, im sure you understand what im trying to saying here?
im more of an Elvis fan to be quite honest!

Up until August last yr i hated the Beatles w/ a passion. But then one listen to the Revolver album changed that, and the way i look at music as well. It's a shame how their earlier, singles-oriented songs have been overplayed. About the time of Rubber Soul they found artistic maturity, and when Revolver came out they were, absolutely & frighteningly, masters of the songwriting craft; and of course by this time, their most brilliant songs weren't fit for massive airplay anymore: I'm Only Sleeping, Tomorrow Never Knows, She Said She Said, She's Leaving Home -- too introspective to be played in public, yearning for a good pair of headphones in a locked bedroom. The next albums, from Sgt Pepper to Abbey Road, each had tracks that, if played to a kid today, would never be suspected of coming from the 60s. If you think that Happiness Is A Warm Gun is a wicked Breeders original, well you're in for a suprise. And dammit, does anyone realize that David Bowie based his whole career on the pre-chorus of I'm So Tired? |

True comments Chili. I must admit I don't listen to a lot of beetles these days, but the occasional song still lurks on my phone (for example sgt peppers loneyl hearts club band) I also have rolling stones "paint it black", now that's a song I can listen to again and again!
