I just bought a 1GB M2 card. When i viewed its properties at Windows Explorer, the total capacity shown = only 911 mb. Is this a normal reckoning for 1 gigabyte? Or did i buy a faulty card and should return it? Pls advise, thanks very much! |

thats ok. the mem cards need the by u "missing" memory for the card itself, for example when u make a back up on it of the contatcs, its made twice. 512 mb cards offer about 485 mb as i recall

Its not really 1GB. The computer calculates diffrent than the companys do.
so your memorcy card is not faulty

Thanks for the quick replies guys, what a relief! It's a little past 4am here and i was losing sleep over it.
@Boba, pls explain some more about what you said earlier -- "for example when u make a back up on it of the contatcs, its made twice." Cheers! |

If u make a back up, contacts are double saved on the card, a kind of double security

Memory cards and USB drives etc will never show the "full" amount is free, I think some of it is taken up by file indexing or something like that.
I have a 4GB USB drive and when formatted, that only shows 3.84GB.
