I believe you need to amplify the signal as the phone will not be able to power the 6x9.

I have reason to believe that this is a common problem with any SE walkman phone.

I used to have my K750 hooked up to my car (using the MMC-60 music cable) so that I could hear my music through my car speakers and it worked beautifully.

Now that I have my W850 hooked up using the same cable, the output is horrifically weak. The phone is at it's highest volume setting, but I have to turn up my radio's volume A LOT higher compared to when I had the K750.

I hope that SE could alleviate this problem with a future firmware upgrade.

@randomtask77 - so what gear do you have in your car to enable the use of the cable etc?

@ wapchimp
You wouldn't need any special 'gear', just plug the MMC-60 cable into the RCA Audio In connectors on the back of the head unit.

@ random
Can't think of why you lose volume with the W850. I would have thought that the Line out signals were the same...

@krissyg
Using a modified headset connector is a 'mickey mouse' way of doing it.
Firstly, are your car speakers ohm rating the same as the SE earbuds?
I doubt it.
And are you using 2 or 4 speakers?
Best to use the MMC-60 cable or even better A2DP phone and Sony MEX-BT5000 head unit.

I usually detach the earbuds from my HPM-70 and connect a 2+1 PC speaker system, which also has a 3,5 mm plug. Since the PC speaker system has it's own amplifier, the sound is great!

here is a sling/stylus i created for my p990i. i am very careless person & sometimes when i use the stylus, i accidentally lose it somewhere or drop it somewhere...made me think of "what if i have a stylus that i can just drop off & pick it up in an easy way when i need it"?...there goes my idea...i won't be worrying of losing my stylus anymore & just have it placed on its nest...

Well you could try a headphone amp, dunno if it would work though. I'm currently looking to buy one. But I dunno if its out of your budget, I hear it goes for about $70 or so.

Here is the link to the product wesite: http://www.electric-avenues.com/

and its being sold by the same person on ebay: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsassZgransQ2dar

I hear that its a good product but I myself am not sure, I've emailed my local distributor for a chance to test it. I'll post back here if I get a chance to test it out. But I dunno if it suitable for your "little project"...
