vodafone, rogers etc have locked out the use of personal mp3s as ringtones so you can only use ones bought from them online or thru wap.
i think if you use the sonyericsson "digital rights manager"(drm) application to convert and then use any mp3 as a ringtone,it gets around this. |

well i tried using the drm packager software and i couldnt get any of the protected files to even work on my phone.
but i found a way to at least put my own ringtones on my phone, they turn out to be pretty huge files ( 1 - 2 mb ) for less than 20 second ringtones though. it turns out if you convert an mp3 file into a .wav, then just crop it down to size then transfer it to the phone, they work fine, but hey its better than nothing.
i used some dbpoweramp music converter program to convert the mp3's to wav, and then just the generic windows sound recorder program
i hope that helps anyone who's been having the same issue |

instead of .wav, convert ur mp3's to wma's. its roughly the same size or smaller and u can use them as ringtones or message alerts. so find ur favorite song, cut it out the parts u like n convert them to wma's. i have made like 40 ringtones for my phone since i got it n it only takes up 14mb. no problems ever |
