Orange PAYG w810i: themes don't change icons |

Hi all
I have just got a w810i as a Pay As You Go "upgrade" from the Orange shop. When I select any of the themes, the wallpaper and colour scheme change but the icons don't. My friend has a w810i on an O2 contract and when he selects the Orbit theme the icons change, and even the highlighter which shows which icon is selected changes to a spark which orbits the icons. I sent him the Orbit theme from my w810i over Bluetooth and the icons still changed on his phone when he selected it. He sent me his Orbit theme and I selected it on my phone, but the icons still didn't change. So it doesn't appear to be the theme itself but rather the phone which is preventing the icons from changing. Have Orange done something to the firmware to stop it changing the icons? Is this changeable? I have used the FAR hack with my w800 so am familiar with that if it is necessary to change anything.

its because of crappy orange branding. orange and vodafone customize the hell out of their phones, unlike o2 who only have startup/shutdown screens a wap icon and an o2 theme

Thanks for the reply. Am I correct in thinking that DaVinci (http://www.davinciteam.com/) can de-brand my w810i? Will all of the Orange-specific features (voicemail notification etc) still work? And will the de-branding make all of the features which they remove work? |
