Used to have a K800i and used a genuine Sony Ericsson HPM-82 remote control with earphones with it. Everything worked fine, track skip, volume change and start/stop button.
I have now changed to a W850i and the HPM-82 is regonised and the model no displays on the screen as I plug in. All functions of the remote work except start/stop. I cannot stop or start the track nor pause it, yet volume control and track skip works fine. This is extremely irritating. I have tried my remote on two other k800s since and all functions work fine, I have updated to the latest W850 software too. Nada. The middle button of the remote just doesnt work.

Any one share this problem? Any ideas?

Can anyone else duplicate this problem?
I think its a huge oversight by sony ericsson - I mean these headphones are supposed to be specifically designed with the walkman brand in mind. A huge irritation, considering that the W850i's start/stop button on the handset itself doesnt even work when the phone is keylocked..

if you pree the stop button once does it turn off the music player? if so when you press and hold play button next time the song will continue from the point you left it at, so its kinda like a stop/ pause button in one

When I press the stop button, NOTHING HAPPENS! It does stop or start music at all. All other buttons work fine though and the stop start button seems to work on k800i just fine

if you are in your main menu and hold down the stop/start button in the middle it should take you into your walkman, does it? if not then i think there is a problem with the w850i

I cannot believe that there is a problem with my W850i. Like I said, every other button on the remote works just fine, the phone itself works just fine. Its just start/stop which fails to work. It isnt the headset, because I have tried it on K800 and Z610 and the start stop button works fine.
I have also upgraded my W850i to the latest unbranded firmware.

Hi,

Have a W850i and HPM-82 and play/stop button works fine for me. Pressing will start walkman player, press again will stop. A long press will switch between radio and walkman player.

Only problem on mine is that fast forward just goes fast forwarding without playing and can't quite stop control it. otherwise all works ok.

possibly a defective button mabye? or firmware issue?

Cheers,

obakesan: all buttons in his HPM-82 work in K800s, so i doubt that's the issue

if it's already standard/non-op branded firmware, could be a localisation issue. is it CHINA/APAC/TAIWAN or EU/AMERICA/etc? you might want to compare with obakesan's W850 firmware. also, i believe these accessories have their own FW too. i have not come across an HPM-82 yet myself, but the MXE-60 i used to have had its own firmware. you can check the details via the Accessories menu from the Connectivity tab in Settings. good luck

I have the same problem using my w900i. Not just the HPM-82, i have the same problem when using HPM-70 (with remote). The play/stop button only fine when i'm using the HPM-80.
