It's rather a long story, but the battery out of my recently-unlocked K510i is still with the people who unlocked it, but I've managed to 'shoehorn' my K750i's battery into the phone. It does just fit, though the rear battery cover bulges a bit and the phone works fine.

My question is, would there theoretically be any long-term problems with using the BST-37 battery in the K510i? I believe they're both the same voltage, not sure about the mAh rating though. Would there be any issues with charging this battery in the K510i? Could either the phone or battery be damaged at all?

No problems with it so far, put it in last night without any problems and all working fine, it has been charging when I plugged it into the PC via the USB cable, all worked fine there.

Has anyone got the specs of the K510i BST-36 battery - voltage, mAh etc. so I can compare it to the BST-37s?

Thanks for the link Boba!

That's good, both batteries are the same voltage, but the BST-37 has a 900mAh rating over the K510i's BST-36 and it's 750mAh rating. So that would mean that I would probably get a better battery life out of this battery compared to the original!

Just a shame it is a tiny bit too thick to go in the phone 100% properly, the rear battery case bulges a bit and there's a tiny plastic clip to hold the other battery in place which gets in the way slightly and is being pressed out ever so slightly. This is why I'm at the mo keeping the current slightly tatty pink (!) covers on the phone rather than the nice new metallic red ones I bought for it!

Just a little update for those who might be thinking of doing the same, the battery has been in the phone now for about a week with no problems whatsoever. I've not actually had the original battery (will hopefully get it today from the shop where I unlocked it - long story lol) so can't compare the standby times, but the BST-37 has done very well, will have to do a 'full to flat' test to see exactly how long it will last with light use.

But no ill effects to phone or battery for it being used in there, other than the battery cover bulging slightly at the bottom due to it being a bit bigger than the proper battery.

there was a difference between the k300's batt and the k700's batt.

k300 = poly-ion batt
k700 = li-ion batt

i thought it would damage my k700, but it didnt. so i think u wont have any probs.

cheers

You mean Li-Poly? How come your K700 is Li-ion? I though SE has used Li-Poly from a long time. Hm, I would check my old phone again but most of them has warranty sticker that block the writing.
