does anybody know if this is a known problem on k500i and what might fix it (other than replacement). I know there is a configuration options for switching the light on and off and automatic etc but its not that.
Thanks in advance |

It sounds like it's either a firmware problem or a problem with the screen or it's connector on the mainboard.
Try updating the phone's firmware via SEUS and see if that makes any difference first.
Could be that the screen is faulty, or it's connector has worked loose from the phone. If you feel confident enough to do it, take the phone apart and try disconnecting then reconnecting the screen and see if that makes any difference. Whilst doing this, just check both the screen's connector and the phone's mainboard for any signs of corrosion that may have been caused by moisture ingress. Has either of your phones been wet at all, even something like using it in the rain or having it in the bathroom whilst having a bath/shower?
If there's corrosion on the phone's LCD connector, it could be a terminal problem I'm afraid, either needing an expensive repair... or not repairable at all! Hopefully it's not this though!

Ah, yes bet it is! Does the backlight still play up if you uninstall this software?
If so, hopefully a firmware update will fix the problem after deleting this app
