Hi, i have been trying to connect my p990 to my livebox but it won't connect. I have entered my WEP key but when i go to edit the account it changed the WEP key from 26 characters for about 15. Can anyone help me with this?
Cheers Harvey

Hi,
I don't know why your P990i deleting last 11 digits from WEP key. My won't work first time also. I changed type of encryption in Livebox (Configuration-> Advanced -> Wireless) settings from WPA to WEP and WiFi start to work immediately. Don't forget to put Livebox in pair mode (press button 1 on the livebox left side). |

Had the same problem with mine, posted my problems on here, got allot of views but no help at all. Called Orange several times, knowone able to help there either, in the end just sold the phone. Have to say, the livebox is terrible, can not even get my son's laptop to connect to it, yet have connected several other devices with no problem at all. Good luck in your attempts to get the two to work, but for those that have got it working, maybe a step by step guide might be of more help, for those that are having trouble.

G'ah!
I just tried turning off the security on my livebox but turned it all off on my PC lol. Couldn't connect to the net at all! Luckily system restore sorted it lol.
Can anyone explain what i have to do to turn off the security on my livebox. Then i can hopefully work backwards and sort out the problems.

Here is the solution (Well it works for me):
ONLY DO THIS IF YOU LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF NO-WHERE.
First go to open up your internet browser, then type in 192.168.1.1 then click on "Access to the configuration pages (access to these pages is restricted, you must have the password)." then type in "admin" for the username and "admin" for the password.
Then go to go configuration, then advanced, now go to wireless, and now you can select the security levels to get your p990 working select "no security".
Now press submit, wait a minute or so then on your p990 search for the wireless signal and select connect, you now have internet from your livebox on your p990.
If you have any problems, feel free to ask.

Just to add to this i could only get mine to connect after i had deleted the wifi account i had already setup on my p990 for my livebox.
But now it works a treat!

@ HarvJ, that's not a very good solution, it has to be said! Security on wifi is pretty important, since without it anyone can use your connection. You may not be that bothered by that, until they use it to do something illegal, and the police come around and arrest you for it...
There have been cases where people have been caught parking up in streets in the middle of the night, with their laptop, just to use someone elses unsecured connection!
As an Orange (well, Wanadoo) livebox customer with his eyes on the P1 as his next phone, I really hope someone knows how to connect a UIQ3 phone to one securely... there must be a way, it's not that bad a router. Sorry to ask the obvious question again, but are we remembering to press the pair button on the Livebox before trying this? I got stuck trying to connect my laptop for ages before I twigged that one myself...

Like HarvJH says... Only do this if you live in the middle of no-where. I myself live on the side of a mountain and i think i'd notice if some one was parked outside my house...
But hopefully someone will eventually come up with a better solution...
EDIT
on a lighter note i've just set mine to wep and it works on my p990 no probs. so that should fix some security worries.

No problem to connect to Livebox with WPA-PSK TKIP and 26 characs password on p990.
I only changed the security from "wep and wpa" to "wpa" |

WPA being the more secure system in any case? Sounds good to me, I think I've already made that same change in my settings. |

I couldn't get mine to work with the WEP key, so i gave up and put the livebox so it had no security.
Well at least everyone knows how to change their settings now.
