A little rant- Whats with all the scammers recentley? |

Hi, just thought i'd bring this up. I've been contacted loads of times in recent weeks by people wanting me to ship my w900 to their sick aunt in hopspital in nigeria. Now i dont know what to do, when someone with no posts, or people who seem to post as much as possible like THIS GEEZA contact me about the phone.
No offence mate, if you read this, and reply (which you probaly will) but i dont think you came here to discuss mobiles, and your sig shows that.
Im starting to think that there should be a time limit on when you can use PM's, like there is when posting a new topic in the for sale section.
But then im sure theres a reason that wouldn't work.
Sorry about this, just thought it had to be said. And sorry about picking on the new guy, im sure he's sound.
Anyone else getting alot of spam? (on here)

unfortunately its the nature of sites like this with a large userbase which can seem like easy pickings.
its not something to get upset about since its a fact of life. The best thing is to alert a moderator asap so we can deal with it asap.
as for restricting PMs, well it might help a little but I already find people trying to bypass the restriction in the sales forum by making 25 random posts and then posting their item. I deal with these by banning them and removing their item for sale as they have completely missed the point of that restriction.
don't forget you also have the block PM function which you can use after you receive the first PM
as I say, just let us know asap and then get on with normal Esato activities

@danny - I've rarely GOT PMs coming from Nigeria etc. etc. When you are receiving SOME and have that gutsy feel that they are FAKE or what . . . your INSTINCT will most of the time TELL you what to do BEST . . .
If some members are whining for something . . . from you . . . you have TWO options here to do mate:
Firstly, you can send a PM to a MODERATOR (in this case - masseur, as he is the most visible in the forums at present . . . ) and discuss with him your dilemma etc. etc.
Secondly, you can LOOK for THAT member's - PROFILE and click on the BLOCK box (all private messages coming from that certain member will not ENTER your PM - Inbox . . . I've done these with some pestering members here . . . .).
Good Luck !

Its just a shame that people do things like this.
I placed one of my phones on ebay, then i was asked to ship to nigeria.
You can imagine my reply |

I think its best to not reply at all.
Already today I have received 3 emails pretending to be ebayers saying they are interested in something I was selling recently (which I wasn't) or asking where their item is that I sold them, which I didn't.
I think I don't want to waste any more of my life than neccessary so simply delete such emails and get on with something else much more important!

It could have something to do with xmas just gone, therefore a lot of people will be selling unwanted gifts?

I just ignore those emails/pms too, just got one for an item I'm selling, just going to delete and ignore it, besides if I reply it validates my email address, could end up on all kinds of spammer's lists!

Hey
That link leads to me
I have never contacted you at all!
Can you please explain why you are acusing me of trying to scam when i have never shown or even said anything about your W900i?
Reason my sig is like that is because i cannot post int he FS thread yet and also that i'm looking for a W850i
If its offending anyone else or making me look "incrimininating" then by all means let me know and I will remove it. Its not a necessary thing

I realise that in a sense tmag but in another sense there are newer members to this forum who just dive straight into the market to try and buy phone's.
I never. The reason I use this site is because you can have a really good laugh on here. Not just the fact of buying and selling phones

The reason i linked that to you mate is because you seem to be posting as much as you can, as quickly as possible so that you can get onto the for sale section of the thread. What my point was that your making little, useless posts constantley. You do know alot of us view the forum in WAP!
