@boba
We have a Korean thread, so it would be interesting to have an alternative point of view.

Well thats the way it looks. Its been dominated by the big two for a while - not just in phones but in consumer electonics.
Samsung and LG are both Korean and make a lot more than just mobiles so brand loyalty would be strong but then I suppose it would be like Sony Ericsson attempting to break Nokia's dominance of the Norwegian market.

Oops!
Right you are. Thanks.
Does anyone know what market share Nokia has in Finland?
As stated, the largest foreign vendor in Korea is Moto with 10%.

Korea is a tough market. When I was there over 95% of cars were Korean. It is the be Korean buy Korean attitude. Which is good.

Now they make pretty good cars. Hyundai and Kia are becoming more popular here in the US and their 100,000 miles, 10year warranty for the original owner cannot be beat by anybody.

Actually Hyundai is doing just fine, Kia was the one that was in trouble a few years back and is currently owned by Hyundai. GM owns Daewoo and announced it bankrupt a year or so ago, and hence it ceased to exist. Now in Egypt we get Chevys made in Kprea Oh ans since I'm already way of topic, Renault bought part of Nissan, a Japanese company if you were wondering.

the Swedish-Japanese mobile telephone manufacturer Sony Ericsson says that it has overtaken the Finnish Nokia as the best-selling brand in Sweden. The company says that it has also move ahead of Nokia in Norway.
Nokia is the undisputed market leader in Finland. Although there are no official figures, estimates are that between two thirds and three quarters of all mobile telephones sold in Finland are manufactured by Nokia.

if the korean members on esato do their best to promote SE in their country SE could go for 10% |

I think it would take a while but SE could do it with some good well-equipped, attention-grabbing handsets to start off with.

Nokia may be about to make another push into South Korea's mobile phone market, according to local sources.
The world's leading mobile handset maker is poorly represented in the country of 49 million, where mobile phone sales are dominated by local firms. Korea is Asia's third largest mobile phone market behind China and Japan.
