Back in october Samsung launched the worlds first 10 MP Camera phone which was unveiled at CeBIT in March of this year, here's a video review.
ESATO NEWS
We have yet to see other manufacturers properly announce 5-7 or 10 Megapixel count phones although a couple of them have done,so far this side of the globe we have only been fortunate to have had the 5 Megapixel LG KG920.If rumours are to be believed we should see a Sony Ericsson 5 Megapixel phone in the new year.
The koreans on the other hand are light years ahead of us when it comes to such handsets, and have this 10 megapixel wonder that is the SCH-B600.The B600 offers the same level of picture-taking sophistication that a 10 megapixel digital camera offers. The camera function includes 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom.It also has auto focus and a flash unit that performs optimally for 10 megapixel photographs.you can watch the video review below which you might not understand if like me the only language you understand is english, but it should still give you a pretty good idea of how the handset functions. Ugly, bulky (especially with the sticking out zoom) and probably sub standard photos. 10MP is completely unnecessary for a phone! Even normal P&S cameras reach peak quality at 7MP.

okay, first of all, it's not bulky at ALL. when it sticks out, it's only when you are taking a picture. samsung's newer camera phones is light years away from normal or bad quality. look at the D900, it's a pretty close competitor to the K800, not better, but pretty good. |

Actually I meant the size of the phone overall. It's around 128x53x20mm. Quite a large phone, and also quite large for a camera.

And the K800 is (honestly) nowhere near as good as a normal P&S camera. That's not saying much for Samsung.
My point is that, if normal cameras can't even produce high quality photos at 10MP, there is no way possible for a phone to produce equal or better photos. And in the case of a 10MP sensor, all it equals is noise and lower quality photos, due to the fact that there are too many 'pixels' for the sensor size.
Photography is about making quality photos, not big ones, which Samsung is trying to achieve with this phone.

yup. i totally agree. this "mp race" that's going on in phones is really starting to annoy me. It's just a marketting scam small lenses and sensors + high MP's = Low quality, distorted, big images.

if you try to increase the pixels after 5-6mp, it just adds more noise and less information. said by a digi cam manufacturer.
a hav read it somewhere.? |

I think 4-6mp is the sweet spot. We need good quality there. More mp just means a bigger picture that does not fit on your screen anyway.

yea im also getting annoyed with this MP race!
brilliant for manufacturers who make loads of money from it...but not good for us consumers who want the best....which usually means the higher numbers in the specs.

Even Carl Zeiss were saying much the same at a Nokia event launching the N80!
Of course, you can clearly see why companies are playing the game. Joe Public will clearly believe 3MP is better than 2, and 10 is better than 5.
When we review cameras, we're looking at actual image quality in different conditions. The N80 is nowhere near as good as a K750 in almost all conditions, and the Sharp 903 that everyone raved about was even worse (funny how Sharp has virtually disappeared now).

the width and depth of the phone is almost the same as the n95 or k800, it is just longer.
