Hi All,

I'm having using my P990i to connect my PC to the Internet. I have Data / Advanced GPRS enabled on my phone . Connection from phone to desktop for phone management is not a problem.

Here's what works for me:
1) Can connect to my PC and browse the internet on the desktop using Nokia PC Suite and my Nokia 7610 using the SIM that's usually in the P990i.
2) Can also browse the internet on the P990i itself.
3) Can connect my P990i to the PC using the Sony Ericsson PC Suite for Smartphones, version: 1.1.8. Downloaded this vrsion within the last 10 days so it should be the latest version of SE PC Suite. Connection works with Bluetooth and with USB
4) Can browse the file system of my P990i, synchronise etc. using SE PC Suite
5) Firmware version: Phone: CXC 162037 R7A001 - I beleive that's the latest.
6) I am using Win XP Pro SP2 on my PC.
7) The phone shows as a modem in the "Phone adn Modems" option in Control Panel.

Here's what doesn't work in detail:
1) The "Mobile Networking WIzard" in PC Suite doesn't detect my phone.
2) Sometimes, although phone not listed in connections, the status bar of the networking wizard shows the phone as connected along with the service providers name and protocol.
3) After a few seconds, even this connectivity disappears.
4) Deleting and redetecting the P990i modem in Window Device Manager does not help.
5) Disabling/disconnecting and re-enabling/reconnecting devices, connection types (usb etc) or COM ports doesn't work. Sometimes, it results in connectivity displaying as in point 3 above but this again disappears.
6) I am guessing that this may have something to do with the m-router software that enables the logical connection between PC and phone, but I haven't been able to locate any updated / stable versions at the manufacturer' site i.e. www.intuwave.com . The company is in some trouble and under court administration so the site has nothing of use.
7) Sony Ericsson support says that there is a P990i Modem Scripts. zip" or some such file that I should use with WIndows, but they have not been able to provide me with the file or link.

Can anyone help with any suggestions on how to get my P990i working as a GPRS modem to connect my desktop to the internet ? Do I need to download different versions of desktop software ?

Thanks very much.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. I am using the M600i, but this shouldn't make any difference. If you find an solution, please let me know. I will try to play with it a little more in the next few days and hopefully we can find a solution.

Does nobody else have this problem?
