use 'Ericsson Phone Book & Text Message Manager' to save all contacts. You can find the links to this program in http://esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=481&forum=2&12, download and conect your phone to the PC. Works very smoothly
enjoy! |

Tell them to screw themselves and find another service center. |

Agree, it should'nt be neccessary to take backup before upgrading. But for your own interest you should do it, in case the phone get lost or something. |

You have to do a master reset after upgrade if you like to avoid problems and if you or the servicepoint dosen't back up your contacts then it's lost! |

I never lost data when upgrading either T-39 or T-68.
And actually it shouldnt happen. You shouldnt need to back-up data.
Some service centers does the upgrade "online",...this can of course be risky ! e.g. if connection fails.
I know that my sevice center does these "offline".

When I did the upgrade from R1B to R2A I lost everything: contacts, high scores the file code etc. I don't know how they did the upgrade but I lost everything. Of course I used the syncronization with outlook and everything came back to normal when I returned home.
