I recently bought a W900i and it will not connect to my computer via the DCU-60 cable that it came with. Everytime I connect the phone, the computer says the device is not recognized or it has malfunctioned. I have tried turnig it off and holding the "c" button and when connected, the phone turns on to the "file transfer mode", but the computer never starts a new device wizard or recognizes the phone. WTF, I am at a loss for solutions. I don't know if the cable is bad and I need to try another one or differnet type. I don't know if the data port on my phone is bad or if my computer has had too many applications from Sony on it and it is causing problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to solve this mystery.

I would like to flash the phone and update it, but with no computer connection, it's a little diffucult to due.

I await some help or constructive advise.

Hi mate.

Did you install the original software disc - with PC suite on? That will also contain the drivers.

Yes, I have tried everything from the original disc to downloading the latest PC suite from Sony. I have even tried erasing the entire pkg and re-installing it, but the drivers will not install and the phone is never recognized on my computer. I have even tried to plug the phone into my old laptop and again it was recognized as an "unknown device". I currently have the PC Suite installed on my computer, but everytime I plug in the phone via the DCU-60 cable, the phone asks for "file transfer mode" or " phone mode" and does nothing more. I am still at a loss for solutions.

The last time I had a problem like that it was because I had not installed the latest Service Packs - I was using Windows 2000. Have you any other cables you can try?

Not at the moment. I am thinking of buying a 3 in 1 cable or something else to see if it will work. I had a w800i and it worked great on this computer, but not this phone. Is any data cable better than another or are they all about the same? Thanks for the replies.

I have never solved the problem. I sent it into a repair shop to see if it can be fixed or if they troubleshoot the problem. Hopefully there is something that can be done.
