Sniff the Bluetooth Pairing code? |
Velvet Joined: Sep 11, 2005 Posts: 8 PM |
I've bought a car which has a bluetooth car kit installed, but no documentation. The bluetooth pairing code is apparently the last 4 digits of the serial number, however as I don't know exactly where the box is installed and I don't want to strip out the entire dashboard just to find it.
Rather than manually sit and enter potentially 10,000 codes, does anyone know of any application for my W800i (or for PocketPC) that will sit and query the carkit trying to pair until it succeeds? |

1111
2222 etc? |

Yes, I've tried the standard codes.
I've also done some research and it has been confirmed by dealers that the code is the last 4 digits of the serial number which is printed on the main box under the dashboard, and there is no code common to all.
Anyone out there know how to write apps for the phone - anyone want to try writing one ? |

Why don`t you contact the person who you bought the car from? |

The default code for the car kit is the last four digits of the serial number. This is hard coded by Nokia, and while performing a master reset clears all previous pairings, it does not change the code to anything but the last four digits of the serial number.
Yes, I have spoken to the dealer I bought the car from, and no, they don't know the code, and neither does the person they took the car from.
I didn't buy the car for the car kit. I could spend several hundered pounds to strip out the dashboard and get the code. I could spend less money on a new carkit. I don't get many phonecalls when I'm in the car, so a car kit isn't essential. However, as it's there, I'm looking for a simple way to get the code so I can use it. If there isn't a simple way, then the kit sits and does nothing.
The serial number was on the box the kit was delivered in, however the installer of the kit disposed of said packaging. Before someone asks, I have no plans to trawl through every landfill in the UK to try and find a box that was thrown away two years ago.
If you don't have a sensible solution to the question, please do not waste the time of readers of the forum by pointing out the obvious.
And before someone complains about it being a Nokia car kit, I have an SE phone that supports the Handfree profile. |

Just in case anyone ever searches on the same question, here is the conclusion:
I eventually tracked down the location of the box which turned out to be behind only one dashboard panel, so I found the serial number. The code last four digits were 8794, and now the car kit works. |

Hi, just stumbled onto your thread here.
You make the right choice (obviously) in searching out the Carkit Control box. It is usually tucked away in an easily accessable location. No need to spend hundreds and remove major items. Best to write the code in the owners manual.

Good idea. Put it in the manual and in a contact in your phone.
