my T68i does not detect my portable handsfree (HB-10) |

Guys,
I have had my T68i for about 6 months. I never had any problems with it. I used my portable handsfree (HB-10 with button) and all worked fine.
All of a sudden one day, about 3 weeks ago, the portable handsfree would no longer be detected by my phone when I plugged it in. I called SE and they sent me another handsfree. That one would not work either.
I then called SE again and sent the phone in for service (since I purchased it online). It was serviced and worked fine. The handsfree accessory worked fine. But only for about 6 days. The phone stopped detecting it again.
AAARRRRGGGGG!!!!!
My question is: Can this be caused by a setting that I am changing on the phone itself?
Thanks for any help you guys can give.

By detect, do you mean change profile? Does the answering button work? Can you use voice commands through the handsfree?
There is a setting in the phone to make the phone change profile when an original handsfree is connected. Look in your manual...

The reason probably is that the connectors on the bottom of the phone get dirty or so and it does not connect well enough when you plug the headset. I had the same problem. Just have it cleaned preferably by SE Service center or with an eraser, just regular eraser and it comes back. Then try to protect your phones connectors from dirt or hand touching etc. how it can possibly collect dirt and you should be fine!

Guys, sorry that I did not reply sooner but I have not been able to get online.
Mange,
Yes, that is the problem. The phone will not change profiles. I set it to automatically detect the handsfree. It still does not work. The answer button does not work or voice commands. (it all worked fine before)
Ally,
I did try to clean the contacts before sending it in and after. It did not help any. They look clean anyhow.
I think that Ill just send it in again. Is there a policy or something that if the phone is not repaired after a certain number of times that you should get a new one? I cant be sending this phone in every other week!
Thanks for your replies.

not really... it's up to the servicepoint to make such a decision... and it also depends on if it has the same problems every time you send it in...
but when you send it in this time... demand that they give priority to your phone since it was such a short time since it was in for service...
btw, do you know what they did on the last service? |

Well it is the same problem, and if it is not fixed now I will demand a new phone. I do not know what they did to the phone the first time. It did worke for about a week though. All I got back was the phone and a pre-printed note telling me that it has been serviced.
I will ship it out on Monday and give you guys the results when I get it back.
