Sony K800i - Tranferring files to Laptop via Bluetooth |

I have a question about Bluetooth on my Sony K800i. Basically I have a laptop with Bluetooth, and I want to transfer files from the phone to my laptop via Bluetooth. I’ve searched for the device and connected to the laptop, but there are no options to transfer files. I’m relatively techie, so I’m not stupid. The only options I get are to use the phone as a modem etc. What am I doing wrong? Do I need software on the laptop specific to the phone etc? |

Provided that the bluetooth is switched on on your phone, if you go to "My Bluetooth Places" on the laptop, and select "View devices in range", it should find your phone. If you then double click the phone icon, a new set of icons should appear. One of them is named
" OBEX File Transfer"
If you double click that icon, you should have access to the files on the phone.
(The description above is valid for a Windows XP SP2 system, it might differ on othe systems.) |

Do you have a bluetooth icon in the system tray? If so, right-click on int ande select 'receive file'. A wizard-like dialog will open and then the computer is in 'receiving mode'. Then on your phone look for the file and choose 'send through bluetooth. The computer will show up in the list of possible devices, choose it and there you go.? Ther wizard will accept the file and then ask where to put it.
If you don't have the bluetooth icon in the system tray go to the bluetooth area in the config screen and select it under the option tab.
Hope this helps.
(of course you can use the pc suite, or myphoneexplorer or fma, but if you just want to send a couple of files, this is probably the most effective way) |
