For the past 5yrs ive had the same tariff which had 100mins calls unlimited wap and text free from o2. But ive been wanting GPRS / MMS for years and o2 wouldn't let me have it unless I changed tariffs, so this evening ive phoned them to change it all they could give me was 50mins free calls and 200 texts and 1MB of GPRS. I know im upto date now but have I made the right decision? I would've liked about 300+ texts and 100 calls but they wont let me :-l if I found anuv tariff say on Voda with will they Match it o2 I mean?

That is utter pants! I have just joined o2 and got a K800i free, 200 minutes and 500 txt. For somebody who has been with them 5 years they could have offered you alot more.

If they are trying to get people off a certain tarriff (i.e. it's not making them enough money!) they'll withdraw certain benefits or withhold them in order to 'persuade' you to change, i remember this happening when I was on one2one (before it became T-Mob) and it was a tariff where you paid the line rental up front and just paid for anything outside of your free mins and texts, they stopped it, and withdrew any free upgrade handsets when you renewed the contract and things like that. I then left them for O2!

Well I was with o2 and had 200 mins and 500 texts for £25 a month and being the impatient guy I am I went and opened a new contract with Orange a month before my upgrade and they offered me 1000 texts and 200 mins a month for £30. I thought yeh £5 month more and more texts and calls, then when my upgrade was due, o2 offered me 900 texts, 200 mins for £20 a month and instead of another handset, £100 in vouchers so basically 5 months free use!
Actually making a post relating to this thread, the new deal your going to get sounds very good miss uk, just try and haggle say 3 months free GPRS, off-peak or something, becuase thats what Orange gave me.

give em a hard time! I would perhaps call one of the other networks (they always love converting other network users) and see what you can get before you negotiate!

just had another look at the other nertworks websites,
02 clearly have the best offers atm, but then Virgin Mobile are doing a good deal 200 free calls and 500 texts every month for 12 months after that it costs £20 per month, but I dunno what there like they seem abit Virgin'ish to me
I wanna have a look at T-Mobile but there site int working

miss uk, whatever you go for rememeber the t-mobile flext tarrefs where you get somethng on the line of £180 of credit for £30 a month (free phone included) (thats either about 900mins or over 1000 texts - used however)... im with orange and i quoted them the flext deal and they offered me this:
Free w810i,
500mins any network
600texts
12 months free insurance
6 months @£15 line rental and £30 for the last 12months (18month contract - but you can obviously upgrade early with orange )
This was about 4-5 months back now though so you should be aiming for at least this....
personally if you cant get an offer like this id go for T-mobile flext, heres teh deal:
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dis[....]e_plan&ppid=903&pf=Flext+plans
with this tarref most phones are free....
Up to you but just something for you to think about
then if you realy wanted you could add web'n'nwalk for £7.50 for free internet.... youd really have plenty of everything then....
Lee

@MissUK
I think you have been diddled - definitely. You should have got a better deal than that.
A friend of mine moved over to Orange and got something like, 500 mins, 500 texts, free landline calls at the weekend and free broadband all for £30 month!
I would go to Orange but the data packages are rubbish. Some people pay a pittance for their package after being with them for a year or so. Get back on the phone to them. I know people who have transfered their contract to another operator before it finished. Squeeze them till the pips squeek.

I changed my tariff to that £25 enn, I asked for a line rental reduction and they would do it but they said they would only do it when I upgraded. To avoid that I had it changed now im gunna ave it lowered next yr im hoping £20 per month. 1000 of peak mins to any network will do me tho and 500 free txts ;-) just means no more w@p browsing, ive got my broadband anyways :-D ..

If you had a tarrif with a line charge of £30 or more on 02 (eg. Anytime 250 @ £30pm) you would have got 02's inclusive browse and download in for free.
