Hi!

I got my T68 in the beginning of november and I've still got the same problem...

The standbytime is ok, about 330h but the "speach time" (?) is only max 3,30h, even though I've recently disconnected it from the charger. I always wait until the battery capacity is low and the phone starts "beeping" before I recharge it. And then I let it charge all night long.

Is this really normal? I've read that the "speach time" should be at least 8-9hours!

I don't use GPRS, WAP or anything else that should interfear with the battery capacity...

Hey! I know the answer to this question... I asked the guy @ the service point today and he had "bad" news...

He said that the T68 is sensitive for where the "antennas" are. If it's a long way, the phone needs more power to connect correctly. That's why I sometimes have 8hours talk time and sometimes only 3. He said if I go to the central station I would have 10hours.

Sh*t, so now I can't leave mine for service... I thought that my phone was the only one with this problem...

Yes, thats right. If you are longer away from the base station, the phone uses more power to transmit. I also belive the power depends if you have a GSM900, GSM1800 or GSM1900 system!

I have 326 hours talk time and 10.5 hours speak time, but that NEVER happens... I end up charging again every two-three days....
My phone says NO GPRS network, maybe it's searching for it constantly and that's why it's using more power????

Good morning!

You can turn that GPRS thing off - Communication -data communication - Nr 2 - only GSM... But I don't think that matters... I still have the poor capacity.

I start charging my phone when it shuts down by itself. I get around 285 hrs of standby and 11-12 hrs of talk time. But in reality, I have to charge the phone every 2 days. When I check the status a few hours after a full charge, the talk time shows about 5 hrs. So, I do not care anymore what the phone says. The real thing is that I have to charge my phone every 2 days. That's it.

To ionur:

I think you are right. The stand by time and speek time the phone says is something like an estimation. Of course this estimation can change very easy by factors such as bluetooth, IR activation, network coverage, usage of the phone etc. My phone says around 300 hours stand by. In normal use (without playing any game, using WAP etc) can last for about 5 days. However, I use to play games and play with T68 in general so the battery lasts for 3 days!

It will not affect the battery-standby if you have the phone on gprs&gsm.
At least not as long as you dont directly use gprs,..e.g. wap, sms, email.

meaning when you dont use a gprs-feature, it will not affect battery-times.
-------------------
I was told by that the function that shows battery-standby and talk-time,..actually update every 2 minutes.

I have my T-68 on gprs&gsm, and have standby at approx 320-345 hours,..the talktime goes from 3-8 hours,..again depending on where I'm at.

Are you aware that as you keep on charging your phone each time that your capacity falls? So when new you could have 320 hrs then after 10 charges you could fall to 250 hrs approx

Battery degredation occurs after 10 charges.

Curent batteries used by SonyEricsson are Li-Polymer, so degradation is greatly reduced.
10 charges, negligible. 100 charges, faintly noticeable.

The lives of these batteries should fairly easily match the lives of the phones.

Rubbish Andrew! On paper maybe, but you will see when youve had your battery for 2 months how the standby value reduces after each charge!

Ive had mine since novermber and I think the battery degraded at least 20%! Service centre had to replace my battery with a brand new one now its much better!
