Nokia believes it can lure consumers away from Sony and Nintendo’s handheld platforms with its next-gen range of mobile phones.
ESATO NEWS
Nokia says that games consumers will be forced to make a choice between its mobiles and with the likes of Sony PSP and Nintendo’s DS.Established publishers and developers have already signed up to produce content for Nokia's Nseries phones and S60 software, which are due for release early next year.
Nokia’s head of games for UK and Ireland Martin O’Driscoll says that that "games consumers will be forced to make a choice between its mobiles, Sony’s PSP and Nintendo’s DS."
He added: “The consumer will have to make a decision: does he wants a standalone gaming device with a limited browsing capability or a phone with an MP3 player, a camera and a bloody good games platform? I think consumers will be prepared to spend £300 on a phone that offers all those different things rather than £100 to £150 for a standalone games machine."

nokia has got some experience with their N-gage line, but still competing with 2 major brands isn't easy, and i think SE is also working on something of their own (unless sony is holding them back), maby SE could revive the ericsson red jade, that would be a great competitor.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

This is where I ask myself what the plans of Sony and Ericsson are regarding their baby Sony Ericsson. How about incorporating the handheld psp into SE. Should've been done a while back in my opinion. Looking forward to the developments in this area. |

That's a rubbish device IMO. At least with a PSP or DS I don't have to have a phone contract or pay over £200 to get one!! Plus I can't see any claissics like Zelda or Teken EVER appearing on it.
Why can't Nokia get over the fact the N-Gage was a flop? |

Sorry, I just swallowed my tounge and laughed my ass off. I just re read the articel at the top of this thread and noted what the idiot Martin O’Driscoll said.
Or to be more precise the idea of young people being prepared to pay £300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For their Ngage device HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LMAO LMAO LMAO
So, they have a platform that did a bigger belly flop then a Blue Whale, a platform that'll NEVER have games similar in style to home consoles AND you'll need to spend more money to use it as it's a phone. But he thinks it better value for money then the PSP or DS???? Has he been speaking to the consumer relations department at Sony behind the PS3?? Sounds like it with that ridiculous spin.
My PSP MAY have limited browsing but it's free on WiFi and it has a stunning nice big screen.
I love the idea of more games on phones but to sell it as a real proper alternative to the PSP and DS is just living in dream land IMO. |

What u guys talking about? It is a gaming platform (i.e. software) and not a gaming phone. Basically this gaming platform can be loaded to a current n-series like N93 and N95. All future n-series will have this platform loaded.
So why game developer not want to develop games for this platform when there are millions of phone already out there? Why do existing (or potential) owner of n-series want to buy another piece of game device when their existing phone can play such games?

What? Customers deciding? I'm afraid he should have said 'us deciding, whether to continue with the project or not'. When it comes to sony, people hardly think! I guess he should see the reaction of people in the U.S for PS3! It would be a very big task to compete with big gaming companies |
