Is there a technique or a 3rd party app that allows speed dial with the flip open or the flip removed.

If such a thing was possible, I would probably take off the flip. But I need speed dialling to some common-use numbers for when I am driving...

Hello

Press and hold the space bar to activate the phone function.
Press the corresponding speed dial number on the keyboard (top row).
Press OK.

Thank you. Works well.

Did you remove the flip from your P990? How convenient is it without it? Do you ever miss the flip?

My P990, just like my old P910 is flipless. Inconvenience without the flip is a bare minimum, something I can live with. I only miss the flip when I play the occasional game - I accidently press the wrong keys on the keyboard.

I've done that too, need to be gentle and spot on when pressing the touchscreen numbers.
