Are you going to convert the database to vb format then? It's a pretty big database, you know, and if you mess it up Laffen will not be a happy man...

Dont think so man. Btw: I like this forum as it is. Its loads fast and thats the most important fufture for me. And i think a software change could change the comunity and everythings that mathers.

This is topic that occasionally creeps up on Esato...sometimes the format of the forum annoys the hell out of me.
Why can't members choose their own avatars and why no small images in signatures...nothing like the craziness over at HoFo. The rule should still apply that you need to be logged on to view images.

Esato is as it is because Laffen wants it this way.
Anyway retro is all the rage. Nothing wrong with phpbb, plus I know from messaging Laffen that he has spent a very long time modifying the code and the wap side of things aswell.
I also use another website called atariage (cos I love retro games). They used to run phpbb then changed to vbulliten, and it just isnt the same. All the star fangled add ons dont add anything to the community, they just make it look better. |

I think images in signatures are pretty much anoying cause i dont have that fast internett conection on my laptop, only gprs. As stated. The thing i like about this board is that it is realy fast. Even on my slow internett connection. About having our own avatars is not that important for me. Except from one thing. The comunity gets more personal when you can have your own personal avatar. But it will for sure slow down the loading time for each site. So for me it doesent mather if we can have it or not.

Hi all,
I like the format e-mail alerts for replies to posts would be good, and if everyone stopped quoting everything that would seal it for me.

You can ask for an email to be sent to when you have actually created the thread.
phpbb can send emails to users who subscribe to post, I used to have that on my own forum. Laffen seems to prefer the use of bookmarks instead. It probably saves bandwidth or database-space or easier for wappers to find what they want. I'm sure he will say why its like that. |

Nah, I like the forum as it is. You can't find another forum like this one in terms of design, and it is nice and easy to use.
Other forums are just using the same template and that's just boring, even with the flashiness.

you don't need topic replies when you reply in a topic anyway. the ** New Posts part at the top shows you whats been posted since you last visited so thats how i find if there is any replies. it would be good to get an email notification that someone has sent you a private message though.
overall there is no need to change the forum in anyway. just my opinion though
