I sold a brand new sim free W810i yesterday and the guy rang me last night to say the flash menu's are not there and when a sms is received the volume starts very low and is pretty useless.

I just got him another W810i from my supplier this morning which is sim free again but after checking there are no flash menu's working on this one either and indeed the sms volume is pretty crap.

The one i have at the moment is made in Malaysia and comes with FW R4EA031 , could he have a bad batch or is this a common problem on W810i's???

Hmmm, I have a W810i, running formware version R4CE012, and come to think of it that didn't come with any flash menus, I've only got the Orbit theme on it as I found it on a memory stick that I got with a faulty S700i!

And my SMS volumne does seem to start out quiet then get louder - could be one of those flaws that the manufacturer would say gives the phone 'character'!

See my missing theme thread a couple down!!

Bought a brand new sim free generic w810i yesterday and it has no flash themes and a ramped SMS alert as well.

Have been pulling my hair out explaining this to both CPW and SE.

CPW have checked some of their stock and it is affecting all of them they have checked.

Am going to take it back as is very annoying.

This is driving me bonkers!

Have phoned about 6 different CPW to get a w810i that has the flash menus and not one of them checked has the flash menus.

Apparently this fault is affecting some but not all handsets so it would appear is luck of the draw. What about those people who did not know that this function should be on their handset and just accept it!!

I am going to visit a large CPW today and hopefully they will have some older stock that are not faulty...and that work as they should. This is all very annoying and above all very frustrating explaining it to people. Why people who work in a phone shop do not know what flash menus are is beyond me.

Sorry, but bad show SE!!

Nope...the themes are on there but just display as the normal ones when selected. I also downloaded ORBIT from SE to see if this was the problem but just displayed as a normal theme.

Speaking with SE (YET AGAIN) it would appear that there is a firmware conflict and the flash file has been ommitted from a batch of phones!!

My girlfriends W810i has the flash themes installed but the sound is very poor. Can hardly hear the phone ring at all.
She has had the phone since May 06 and was new on O2 online contract.

I guess you will be relieved to know that my quest for a w810i with flash menu's finally came to a succesful conclusion.

I treked to the large Cardiff CPW and checked the oldest model that the store had in stock...this was from July and lo and behold flash menu's!! CPW must have checked about 15 new handsets for me today and they all had the flash menu function disabled.

What has annoyed and surprised me the most about all of this is the total lack of knowledge some phone shop staff seem to have for the products they sell. Surely if someone is selling and registering phones for customers all day they would know what the functionality of each handset is....to be honest I spoke with 3 people yesterday and today who categorically stated that the w810i did not have flash menu's....very frustrating.

Anyway, rant over....spose there are far more important things to get stressed about but am glad to have got this sorted!!

Does Flash Themes mean that they are animated? If so my Orbit theme has an animated backgound.
