yes, hardware is exactly the same... but to take full advantage of it you better upgrade it to the i sw....

i am not sure if there is r2b for the i, but there are verions like
R2A, R2E,R2C,R2F,R3C,R5C,R5D.. and some others... check your phone and see if you have mms capability and picture gallery (or is it just one picture you got) if you don't have picture gallery with like 55 pictures in it, you have m sw, but if you do, you have i....

you still might want to upgrade it to the 5 version or at least r2e.. i use r2e and extremely happy with it.....
