Hello all!

My freacking P990i now will not show caller ID anymore. All contacts are in the phone, but no matter if I get the call or make the call, the phone will not recognize that the name is in the phone!

Did already Master Reset and Re-Flash !!! Still the same.

Now to top that, I can only access the contacts in the phone, when tryinig to read the SIM, phone says ... Reading from SIM....f o r e v e r !

Any help with this is apprecited. Is my phone damaged? Because I have the latest FW R7.

After the master reset and reflash, the contacts where flawlessly transferred from SIM to phone. Also, the first time after this I was able to access the SIM contacts...but after a while (hour or so..) the old behaviour is back...won't read the SIM contacts

and won't show the name from the contact in the phone...!

Help

Thanks for all the help!

Anyways, I have now reflashed again from another SE location and this time it is working... so far!

Hopefully it was a Software Issue and not Hardware.

Okay, it is now happened again. After the first restart!

So as long as I would not restart the phone after a flash or reset, all is working. BUT as soon as I restart the phone and it tries to read the SIM again, it stops.

Cannot access the sim from contacts and NO name/number recognition in contacts in the phone either.

Don't know what to do now. Is the phone broken?

All other features from the sim, like the locks and pins and the booting into the network work obviously. Just the contacts cannot read the SIM.

HELP please!

Even though it seems I am the ONLY one in this thread, here is another update:

I isolated the error so far to the following:

Whenever I MasterReset so that the SIM is being read again, it stays that way even with restarting the phone...

UNTIL

I set up some Voice commands and voice prompts for callers in the contacts of the phone.

Even 1 contact with voice prompt and the phone won't read the SIM ever again!

So right now everything works since I did not setup any voice prompts.

What the freack is that SE ?

Come on, nobody else have any such issue???

I have now a second phone, direct from SE, built 2006 Week 42 and the SAME issue.

Whenever I have any voice command and/or caller name voice prompt recorded, then the phone won't read the SIM anymore after a restart.

This is really something.

I've tested this out on my device and everything seems to be working fine, i have voice dialing activated. You have tried two different devices with the same problem, IMO the issue might be your SIM.
