Is IRC the same as programs like msn messenger and ICQ or is it something completely different as I have been infected with an IRC-Worm but I don't know where it came from. |

it is different... it is more like Kazaa or Morpheus... it is for sharing the files....

IRC and msn messager/yahoo messager is about the same thing! They are both chatting programmes!
The only diff is that IRC is able to search for things to download and you get to chat with more strangers!
Msn/yahoo on the other hand is another chat thingy but you can only chat to those whom you have added to your contact list so you wouldn't be meeting stranger but friends that you know of!
One more thing, if you are using IRC, you need to get connected to the server which sometimes can take quite a long time but msn/yahoo messager doesn't have such kinds of problems! |

IRC = Internet Relay Chat
its like a chatroom, so ne1 can connect to your comp and can download files and you can download files from them |

Linkinpark17UK, IRC isn't really a program. Many software programs like mIRC use the public access IRC servers for different things. Some programs are geared towards letting people chat (similar to AIM or ICQ) while others are made to facilitate the sharing or trading of data (similar to Kazaa).

Thanx guys, i use WinMX, so it may have come from there, is it true that the music companies like have declared war on Music sharing by flooding P2P programs with viruses? |
