can IR port be used in my W550i to control TV set?

No the range is only about 20cm anyway pm you might as press the button on the telly

this is a question that has been asked of almost every SE phone since the beginning but SE have never provided consumer power IR ports in their phones and I'd be surprised if they ever will.

Although, Psiloc released an IR Remote app for the P900, which I still use - causes hilarity once people work out I'm cntrolling their telly!
Sadly, not heard of anything for OSE(non-smart) phones....  |

Yeah i remember having an app for my my 6600 back in the day which changed the channel was very cool indeed.

oh i like the idea of that...i remember having it on my 7650 lol, a port to uiq 3 would be very nice

I didn't measure the range at anytime, but happily works in any room I've tried it in......I'd guesstimate approx. 15 feet capability(no-one has a bigger TV room I could test in!).........

It would be more usefull if some TV manufacturer figured out to implement bluetooth in their TV sets, wouldn't it?
