NTT DoCoMo of japan have been previewing their 4G phone of the future.
ESATO NEWS
NTT DoCoMo has been showcasing their future vision of 4G to gadget Mag T3.So much so that they even have a prototype handset and service set up at their headquarters to demonstrate what 4G will be like.
Granted the handset is huge in size, but it does house a pair of 3D goggles that slide out of the bottom, and has download speeds of around 1GB per second.
3D images can be downloaded and superimposed onto any environment you happen to be looking at in this case fish in a aquarium, it instantly recognises what your looking at via built-in sensors, and if you hit a button while looking at something it pulls up a hub of information on that particular sea creature.
4G promises to deliver so much content into our handsets and lives at such ridiculously blink quick speeds that it creates a new way of looking at the world, the future is looking good

You have to remember this is a 3D video/audio device, and is a prototype,i'm sure the end product we will get to see in a few years time will be much smaller and pocket friendly.

To cater the quality of service and rate requirements set by the forth coming applications like multimedia messaging, mobile TV, High definition TV content, DVB and minimal service like voice and data at anytime and anywhere, the 4G working groups have defined the following as the objectives of the 4G wireless communication standard.
Spectrally efficient system (8 bits/s/Hz)
High network capacity (at least 10 times greater than 3G)
Nominal data rate at high speeds (100 Mbps at stationary conditions and 20 Mbps at 100 miles/hr)
Smooth handoff across heterogeneous network
Seamless connectivity and global roaming across multiple networks
High quality of service for next generation multimedia support (real time audio, high speed data, HDTV video content, mobile TV, etc)
Interoperable with the existing wireless standards
All IP system, packet switched network

I believe 4g will become the next mobile comm standard considering its high thoroughput. 3g ended up as a failure mainly coz of d expensive equipment infrastructure it demanded despite of its not so high bandwidth. Many network providers chose to go for edge which demanded much less expense and could offer pretty decent speeds.
Now 4g will surely earn its respect . . . |

Hi fatreg and all,
I am sure it will be smaller than there prototype but would prefer the small projection device that has been announced as a better solution not keen on the goggles idea at all.
I have never made a Video call and doubt i ever will and unlike most hate text messaging. I like to use Diary, E-Mail, Web browsing and of course multimedia. To be honest 3G is pretty fast and with the role out of HSPDA not sure how much faster you really need it to be on a handset.

Hmmm, not too keen on wearing any kinda eyewear full stop, like fatreg says texting and calls is where its at. I mean there is no visable next buttons on that thing, and even if a smaller thinner version was made what are you gonna do to text? I aint speaking into some mouth piece to i can send a text. Also in a realisitc real life scenario in modern day UK walking and talking is as daft as it sounds. Keep it simple.

I can't wait for 4G! On a recent trip to London i experienced HSDPA on my Vario II and got a connection speed of 1.4mps! God i love technology-and for the first time ever, can't wait to be old to experience all this stuff! :-)
