The only only main difference between the phones is the 8890 is Tri-band but with the addition of small aerial.but physically the same as the 8850,which is designed for the 900MHz and 1800MHz bands.

Yes, same frame, fascias and design . . . but the 8890 has an EXTERNAL antenna while the 8850 does NOT have . . .

The 8850 is a GSM 900/1800 while the 8890 is GSM 900/1900. Note, the 8890 is NOT triband, I have physically put an GSM 1800 simcard (T-Mobile/Orange) and the phone will NOT pick up reception! The rest is correct, there is a small ariel on the 8890 while there isn't one on the 8850. |

aaa ok is 1 worth more than the other?
i did notice the 8890 had the external antenna but i got the antenna with no external bit aswell so i didn't know if the previous owner brought it as an extra.. must say i think the external antenna is cool! a bit of vintage

originally the 8890 was worth more than the 8850 but now i would say they proberbly hold the same value.

I used to own both the 8850/8890 back in its heydays and i think that was Nokia at its best.
I kind of lost interest in Nokia after that.

8850 is worth more if its in proper good condition.
and as someone said the only difference is the addition of the 1900hz band but only at the expense of the 1800mhz one!

both are classic, old-school phones i wouldn't mind having as a backup phone. it's a shame the scratch-prone casing of the 8810 didn't live up to the level of these two phones...
