well i only know of two modes, (the two you mentioned). optimised charging is for original SE batteries. although the charging only will come up if you try a t68 battery with a t68i.
li-polymer batteries have no memory loss, whcih means you don't have to do much in the sense of maintaining battery life. basiclaly, it doesn't matter if you charge it when it's empty, or when it's full ,it will keep it's life.
