@kwabs: What can you tell us about mobile services in Ghana? How many networks, subscribers and how do you guys get the latest phones.

i really appreciate your support.
@brix25 well things are going on somehow well, there are four networks here, namely:
Areeba, Tigo, Onetouch, Kasapa... Areeba has the most subscribers. But Kasapa is said to provide the most quality service.. Sadly 3G is not yet in ghana.. and gprs, provided by Areeba and Tigo, is now being grasped by some ghanaians...
on the whole, it's quite good... you can check these sites for more

@kwab I thot MTN bought one of the networks in Ghana? I read something about MTN Ghana recently.
I know at least one Esato regular who lives in Ghana.
Wish y'all the best in Esato.

wow you guys are really NICE!
@cool yeah MTN bought Areeba, and so Areeba will re-brand under the name MTN...
this isn't the first time, it started as Spacefon. infact i use areeba and i'm not satisfied much with their services. gprs is kinda expensive, and some calls are not very clear.
but i'm just waiting to see what MTN ghana has in store for us..,
let's wait and see |

MTN in Nigeria is synonymous with higher tariffs.... except recently when a new CEO came on board. He was shipped from Areeba in Ghana. One Ahmad Farroukh. Strange eh? He came and crashed tariffs here in Nigeria.

It seems we've had an exchange of some sort. MTN Nigeria's Ex-Chief Financial Officer is now Areeba Ghana's CEO!
this doesn't sound too good. i just hope GPRS rates do not increase over here!
Honestly, I'm expecting alot from MTN Ghana. Maybe the introduction of 3G? and of course what every Areeba subscriber REALLY wants:
for all calls to go through and stay crystal clear! is that hard to ask?
I'm telling you, if Areeba/MTN does not step up their game by next year, I'M GONNA SWITCH! (and i mean that!!!)
@cool are you an MTN subscriber? |

Kwabs let me tell you one secret in nigeria. There is no active gsm user that is subscribed to one network only. There are genuine reasons for this. The first is reliability. You can be without service for 24hrs. 2nd reason is the cost effectiveness. You would want to minimise cost as much as possible. 3rd reason is gprs service.4th is packages.
I have 3 mtn, 1 glo and 1 celtel. I am sure coola is using similar numbers too.
