Isn't the W850 a mid-range Walkman slider? Why do SE need another one? |

@chriswg52
Well, the W850 is a high-mid range phone. The new one will be low-mid range. Something like the K610 in price.

@ shaliron -- Thanks for clearing that up. I do suppose there is room for a slightly more low-end mid-range Walkman slider. It should be interesting to see how SE's slider range evolves. |

i also agree the megapixel race is silly.. i rather have a 3.2 then matches a 3.2 d/c then a 5mp that still doesn't match a 3.2 dc in quality..
this new se will probably be a "normal" phone like the k800 so it won't compare overall to the n95.. but should have a superior camera and hopefully decent video recording too...

how is the K800 a "normal" phone? a normal phone would be something low to mid end, not a self-claimed "best camera" phone. |

K800i is basically a normal phone all its good for is the Cybershot 3.2MP, the technology that sony bought in to mobiles from digital cameras, so the K800 has nothing special other then the camera...
and if you go to japan you will see much higher MP cameras ive seen a 5mp voda phone from a exchange jap student, super high tech ^^

well the k800i is not a smartphone... so it's a normal phone.. runs the same UI as k750/w800/z610/w710 etc..etc.. but with minor UI tweaks and better hardware...
being a normal phone isn't a bad thing

This is so exciting. I can hardly wait. I don't see anything else to upgrade my W810. Want SE to rescue me and fast. Lol. @Prom1. Nice seeing another Jamaican active on here. :-)

should we see some new phones...like the low-end Cayber-shot and ultra slim Walkman by the end of the year?? because on the SE official site there is no "comming soon" phones for the whole worlds market and for the ultra slim W is being said that it will hit the market in 1Q |

Highly doubt that ^^^

Why not? Sharp have optical zoom in their 903. It shouldn't be impossible for to squeeze such a lens in one of theirs.
Maria sounds good to me, then again are we expecting too much for this cam to have AF? Should we get our hopes up?

Well the Sharp 903 is 29mm thick, but that's because it's a clamshell. Theoretically, it is possible to have a 3.2 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom in a candybar about 14.5mm thick.
That's in theory, but I reckon it wouldn't be anywhere as thin. You'd then have to stack the rest of the components over it, like the LCD and then it wouldn't be so thin anymore. Not to mention that I think the 'processor' or whatever processes the photos for the 903 is in the top half of the flip.
That's why the Samsung X820 is still so thin even with a camera, because with the landscape display, the components don't have to be stacked so high or 'thick'.
All is possible, but difficult.

shaliron, you could add this to the list for Sofia:
"Sofia in size of K610 with EDGE/UMTS with 2,2'' QVGA scratch resistant display, 5mpix xenon flash will be out." |

@deuxani
Nice, where'd you hear that?
EDIT: Doesn't matter. Found it at MR. Thanks.
