Excellent forum! - only just got here as I've always had nokias til now...

Unfortunately, just as I was falling in love with my 750i I now have a major problem! I was using the USB cable to transfer images, no problem, then the 'usb device not recognised ' came up in windows. Seems to have somehow crashed my usb ports. Still worked okay in another port but my usb flash drive and my 7-port usb hub, mp3 player are now all not recognised!! Have system restored to previous day but no change (I'm using XP pro). Have updated drivers for usb, no change... Kinda stuck now Devices seem to work fine on other pcs.
Plus, I can't make or receive calls or messages on my phone!!! It shows reception bars and all other features work but 'Searching' just stays at the top of the screen Would a master reset help?
Everything else on the computer seems fine.
Have also been using my phone explorer, great program, no problems. Using the cable for image transfer cos obv Bluetooth is proper slow. Anyone got any ideas how to help? I've tried the sim in my old nokia 6600 and all good.

Anyone? Must be someone who's had a similar problem? I've searched the forums/ database/ google and can't find anything on this - p'raps I've invented a new problem .

No worries on the pc USB bit, I'll sort that somehow but what about the master reset, does anyone think it may help to enable calls? My sim is now back in my nokia 6600 and working perfectly so must be the phone.

More info:
When you switch the phone on it briefly says welcome to Orange (O2 phone originally, so not locked) and the reception bars show decent signal, but then the 'Searching' (top of screen) message just stays there. When you call a number the phone tries to but calls aren't connected, they just time out .

Many thanks,

Did you get the phone new or secondhand? Could the phone be blocked?

Sounds more like a firmware issue though, try updating the firmware. If that doesn't work, try contacting GBrooks over on www.se-nse.net or someone like Mike p here who may be able to help or point you in the right direction
