I received my T68i yesterday, and after setting it up, personalising it, copying my numbers into the memory etc., I was very pleased with the phone. But that same day, the phone froze, and I had to take the battery out to reset it.

Today, the phone has been crashing all the time. It crashes when I receive an SMS if it's in screensaver mode. It crashes if I go to the WAP services menu, the Connect menu or the My shortcuts menu. I can't even find out my software version because it crashes when I select the SW Information menu item.

I will get the firmware upgraded tomorrow and see if this fixes the problem. But, I doubt it will and I will likely be sending this phone back as faulty, and hoping that the next one they send me does not crash.

I don't have much confidence in a new T68i though, as there have been so many more complaints of similar things happening.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has experienced the same thing, and whether upgrading the firmware fixed it for them.

How could we know if a phone has faulty memory? (I mean before buying) Is maybe some hardware version? or some production date?

I only just got the phone. I haven't filled up the memory. Even if I had, I would not expect the phone to crash when I try and select top level menu options.

i second nixnut's suggestion. demand a replacement from whereever you got your phone. obviously, something not right is happening there

Heh, thanks I checked out your site; nice design. PHP is easy if you have experience with C++. The syntax is very similar to C/C++ and Java/Javascript. A good place to start learning is www.webmonkey.com and all the PHP documentation is at www.php.net. If you have any problems, come to #php.uk on irc.quakenet.org

the only way is probably to change the memory circuits.... which you can't do by yourself... not even the servicepoint can do it, the memory circuit is glued to the systemboard... don't know what kind of policies the servicecompanies have in US, but here in Sweden the servicepoint can offer the customer to buy a swap unit if the phone can't be repaired and there is no warranty left (same thing as when the phone is damaged by liquid)

when you buy a phone you get (normally) 1 year warranty.... but... there is also 15month warranty of production from production date.... once both the 1 year of purchase and warranty of production is over it doesn't matter if the fault is a production fault....
but then your country might have laws that you can use to get it fixed... like here... we have the consumer purchase of act, so if the fault is within two years from purchase you have the right to get it fixed without any charge...
