HPM-10 drivers in WinXP??? |

I've searched through the whole freaking forum and read all the posts that have anything to do with my problem, yes, I am also having trouble installing the drivers in WinXP for the MMC reader/writer supplied with the MP3 player. I've tried the Sandisk drivers, the drivers from SonyEricsson, the ones from Scmmicrosystem, the ones from wap.ericsson.com and the original ones, and a few others. None of them work. Some drivers install but it Windows still won't recognize the device.
Any programmers here who have made their own drivers? Anyone who have gotten it to work with some of the drivers I mentioned above?
AND DON'T TELL ME TO GO BUY AN USB READER/WRITER.
UNLESS YOU HAVE A SOLUTION FOR MY PROBLEM OR YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, f**k OFF!!!
I'M TIRED OF PEOPLE WHO POST 'BUY A USB, BLAH BLAH BLAH!' SUDDENLY THE THREAD IS 30 PAGES LARGE AND NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING ANYMORE. |

If you really searched the forum, then you'll probally allready have the newest drivers for your HPM-10.
Okay here the solution.
Check if the parallel port mode setting in the CMOS is set to EPP
Install the newest drivers (Ppmmc.zip unzip the file and install)
after installing the drivers your computer will probaly freeze when trying to restart winXP. Hit the reset button and you won't have that problem anymore
Now remember that your software isnīt supported by winXP so you will have to be prepared for many bugs in the program.
Insert your memorystick to the connector and RESTART your windows.
Remember you will have to restart everytime you'll copy something new to your memorystick. Sometimes you won't have to restart but I've only tried this 2 times before, it seems that windows' "search for memorystick" doesn't work probaly.
You'll enter your memorystick as a new HD (ex. e:)
Compress your MP3's with "DietMP3" for optimal diskuse

My oh my. Telling people to **** off?
Well I say go and buy a USB reader/writer!!!
I got the MMC reader/writer working perfectly using XP pro with the newest driver. The only thing I had to do was to install it with my printer disconnected.
I have now bought a USB reader/writer anyway because it is 40 times faster and only costs less than Ģ20 including VAT and delivery.

They delivered the next day too.
If you have a large card ie. 128Mb you may as well go and watch telly for half an hour whilst you copy files with the serial MMC reader/writer.

My serial cable is fast enough for me....less than 5 min to copy 32 mb data.
CMOS settings is the menu that you can enter during the BIOS upstart.
Reboot your computer and press "del"-key while your BIOS is starting.
Hope this helps you...
Here in Denmark you'll have to pay the same price for the USB-writer as the whole HPM-10 package!
I bought the mp3-player because it was a cheap solution. (the 128mb memory-stick' price is 2x the price of the HPM-10 package!! )

Oh and by the way. I asked someone in the store and he told me that the serial connection was a 2 MBIT connection.
And I know that a USB-device delivers a 12 MBits connection as a MAX.
That would make your USB-Writer 6 times faster

When you have two 128MMC cards and are tranferring up to 100 files on a regular basis I assure you it is one of the best Ģ20 you'll ever spend. Also the card reader/writer has a built in 16mB flash memory which can be used with the pouch it comes with to carry in your pocket if you wanted to transfer files to other pcs. Also the it reads and writes to 5 different card formats. This makes it compatible with all digital cameras.
Let's not even mention the hours spent installing the driver properly for the serial MMC reader. |
