I bought my P990i yesterday from Vodafone. Luckily It was Unbranded, i downloaded the Wayfinder Trial Version, but i have been unable to set it up to use my GPRS settings to connect and work. I can use the internet fine, as well as making Video Calls, which im guessing means that all my internet and 3G settings are in place.
Could anyone please instruct me how I could set up my Wayfinder Navigation so it uses my GPRS connection so as I can actually test it before I work it !

I trialed it OK with my Voda P990i.
Think it defaults to your preffered Internet Connection Group (one shown in italic in connections manager). I had it working over WiFi in the house and falling back to 3g/GPRS using Contract Internet (instead of Contract WAP).
May have worked under Contract WAP connection but not tried it.
When you say its unbranded, don't you get the Vodafone red startup screen? Mines unlocked to any network with no Vodafone external branding just startup screen but it won't take generic firmware update.

Could you please instruct me (step-by-step please!) how to set it up to use my WLAN as a first route and 3G/GPRS as second?
I have all the necessary subscriptions with vodafone, just dont know how to setup up Wayfinder ! :-S |

I'll skip the WiFi bit if you don't mind as you have to setup your phone to your specific wireless network and I don't know how you have it configured. Lets see if you can get Wayfinder trial going first.
Select the Application icon (4 circles)
The Tools folder (normally bottom left unless you have altered it)
Control Panel
Connections
Internet Accounts
You should have a tabbed view with Accounts listing various profiles such as: Business email; Contract MMS; Contract WAP; Contract Internet plus others.
The other tab is Groups and in there I thibk you should have either 1 or 2 Groups by default with one in Italic font. which is the preffered connection group.
Select the italic group and see whats in it & in what order.
In mine I now just have KEYNET (which is my WiFi profile) followed by Contract Internet.
Ensure you just have Contract Internet in here at this stage.
And basically, that should be it. I don't recall having to configure anything in Wayfinder but can't check as my trial has ellapsed.
Just check in your Groups view at the top under Options you disable Show Connection dialog and set timeout to 20 mins while trying to get working. |
