Moving HandySafe from p910i to M600i? (license) |

Hi all,
When you get a new phone, what's the general situation with the license, when you have originally bought the software for a previous phone?
I bought handySafe (plus quite a bit of other software) for my p910i. It's a pretty good piece of software, and I use it a lot.
I've just upgraded to a m600i. Of course my previous registration code does not now work on the UIQ3 version of HandySafe.
I've emailed Epocware (Pendragon and Penreader) a few times asking if I can upgrade, with no response....!
Do my question is. Will I just have to buy a whole new license?
What's people opinion?
Cheers

The P 910i is UIQ 2.0, while the m600i is UIQ 3.0 which means u r using ur soft with another phone, which means u have to buy again the 5 softwares available for the M 600i - don't worry, any other software u'll find will be games only.

Hi 701,
so this is the usual way it works between phones? Software is on a per phone basis and not a per user basis.
Not complaining you understand, just interested!!

Epocware are usually poor at responding & giving upgrades even on same phone.
I just bought HandySafe again as I had a $10 voucher with Handango to use.
Just to mention there isn't a way to import from UIQ2 to UIQ3 version.
I had to install both of the PC sync versions then copy the data files from the UIQ2 version folder to the UIQ3 folder on the PC

In the old Handy Safe use the export (under File -> Export). Save as a .txt file. Then install the latest Handy Safe (version 5.05) and use the Import (under Tools -> Import) and follow the prompts (self explanatory). And voila
I did not see the import option under the earlier 5.03, so you might have the older variant, and you need to install the newest handy Safe.

@Ferg: yes, because otherwise I would ask them for an upgrade every week pretending I've changed my mobile. So I guess u have to buy 'em all over again for ur new phone, running the new OS...I am in the same boat, just bought a few programs for my new M600i. Damn it!:D

Read this.

I own Handy Tools and Handy Explorer and according to their own explanation 50% seems unfair. You should only pay the difference if there is any (Handy tools is cheaper for UIQ3)

Hmmm. I just upgraded this morning. Cost me 15 dollars to upgrade HandySafe alone.
I left the dictionary for the moment as the prices look a lot more expensive than when I originally bought them!
I'll have a think......!
